Adrenal Gland
Adrenal glands are situated on the top of the kidneys in a triangular shape; the outer part known as the cortex releases steroid hormones like cortisol, testosterone and aldosterone, while the inner part called the medulla, releases epinephrine (adrenaline) and norepinephrine (noradrenaline). If the glands produce less or more hormones than actually needed by your body, you can fall sick. Adrenal glands produce three varied classes of hormones that control the major body functions, like metabolism, salt and water balance regulation, pregnancy maintenance, stress control mechanism and the control of sexual maturation during puberty and childhood. Sex steroids like estrogen and testosterone are also derived from the adrenal glands.
