Age Spots
Age Spots (also called Lentigines) are the brown-colored spots that appear on the face and entire body over time, due to overexposure to sun. Over time, our skin containing ‘melanin pigment’ becomes more vulnerable to developing damage from sun. This pigment tends to absorb sunlight that helps us in protecting our skin naturally from UV rays. When we age, the natural ability of our skin to combat UV rays starts withering away and this leads to the development of brown age spots (solar lentigos), freckles (ephiledes), liver spots, discoloration (poikiloderma) and mottled brownish areas (melasma) on our skin. Age spots can be successfully treated through laser technology.
