Amblyopia

Amblyopia can be defined as reduced vision, caused unilaterally or bilaterally, the reason of which can be traced through a physical examination of the eye. Also commonly known as lazy eye, it could be reversed or prevented by the right medication. Functional amblyopia refers to the amblyopia that is potentially reversible through occlusion therapy, while Organic amblyopia indicates irreversible amblyopia. The vision recovery would mainly depend upon the maturity of the visual connections, its length of deprivation and the age when the therapy was initiated. It is imperative to ignore an organic cause of reduced vision since most of the diseases cannot be detected by routine examination.
