Aorta
The aorta is the largest artery in the body which arises from the heart’s left, ascends a little, bends over, descends through the chest and then goes to the abdomen where it ends by dividing itself into two arteries known ad iliac arteries which extend up to the legs. The aorta is divided into the ascending aorta, descending aorta and the aortic arch. The descending aorta is further divided into thoracic aorta and abdominal aorta. The aorta has branches which go to the neck and the head, the arms, chest and abdomen, legs and all the major organs of the body. Its primary purpose is to supply oxygen rich blood to all the important parts.
