Boutonniere Deformity

 

When talking about or referring to a particular deformed structuring either of the fingers or of the toes it is understandable that you have Boutonniere deformity. This happens to the joint which is nearest to the knuckle. In many cases a sudden accident or injury can cause this condition to happen. However, this deformation of the joints can also be a result of a condition known as rheumatoid arthritis.There are four stages of this ailment called Boutonniere deformity. You can have mild extension lag which can be corrected to certain extent. You can have moderate extension lag which can also be rectified to a certain point. You can have mild flexion contracture or you may also suffer from advanced flexion contracture.
