Breast Cancer Ultrasound
Ultrasound makes use of sound waves to study disorders of the breast. The principle is based on the radar where the sound waves are transmitted into the body and are reflected back in order to form an image on the computer screen for analysis.Breast cancer ultrasound technique is useful in detecting benign and cancerous lumps that are big enough to feel. It is the best technique to detect the possibility of cancer as it is difficult to determine whether a lump is a cyst (filled with water) or a solid lump (made of tissue).Ultrasound is also used to accurately predict if the lump is cancerous. It is not used to detect cancer as it is not capable of detecting the little micro calcifications that show early stage of cancer.
