Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

The pressure on the median nerve is known as carpal tunnel syndrome. Median nerve is the nerve in the wrist that is responsible for supplying feeling and movement to different portion of the hand. The syndrome can lead to tingling, weakness, numbness or muscle damage in the fingers and hand.
The median nerve is responsible for providing movement and feeling to the hand’s “thumb side” (the thumb, middle finder, index finger, thumb side of the finger and the palm). The portion of the wrist where the median nerve enters is known as carpal tunnel. The tunnel is usually narrow and therefore, any sort of pinch or swelling in the nerve may cause pain, tingling, numbness or weakness. This disorder of the hand is known as carpal tunnel syndrome.
