Cell Membrane
The cell membrane is a membrane that biologically separates the interior of all cells from the surrounding environment. The cell membrane is porous to ions and the organic molecules. It also controls the movement of the materials in and out of the cells. The cell membrane consists of a phospholipid bilayer embedded with proteins. They are involved in a wide range of cellular processes such as ion conductivity, cell signaling, cell adhesion, cell recognition, allowing directed organelle or cell motility etc. They also serve as the surface for attaching the cell wall and extracellular glycalys and intracellular cytoskeleton.
