Cellulitis Eye

Eye cellulitis or orbital cellulitis is a type of cellulitis whoch infects the soft tissues and dermis around the eye socket. It is characterized by swelling, redness, warmth and pain. It is a bacterial infection that affects the area within the eye socket. The infection is caused by a particular type of bacteria called as staphylococcus and streptococcus.The symptoms observed are usually local or systematic. The local symptoms include the area of infected skin such as proptosis (swelling if the eye), eye pain, decreased vision, double vision, reduced eye movement and chemosis (the swelling of the membranes around the eyelids)
