Chagas Disease

Chagas disease is a kind of disease that is spread by insects. This disease is commonly found in Central and South America. Trypanosoma cruzi is a type of parasite which is responsible for causing the Chagas disease. This parasite is related to the African trypanosome which is responsible for causing sleeping sickness. The risk factors that cause Chagas disease are

• Staying in Central or South America
• Getting a blood transfusion from a person carrying the parasite but is unaware of the fact that he is carrying the active Chagas disease.
• Residing in a hut where infectious bugs live in the walls.
