Chancroid

 

Chancroid is a bacterial infection that is transmitted only through sexual contact. The bacterium responsible for Chancroid is Haemophilus ducreyi. Uncircumcised men are at higher risk of contracting this disease than circumcised men from an infected partner.The symptoms are usually noticeable within one day or two weeks after contracting Chancroid. Once contracted with this disease, a person may get a small bump on his/her genitals. The bump turns into an ulcer within a day of its existence. The ulcer may be soft and painful that ranges from 1/8 inch to 2 inches. Usually men have a single ulcer whereas a women may get up to four ulcers.
