Congenital Heart Defect
Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) is a problem related to the heart structure, and is one of the commonest forms of birth defect. When the heart of a baby starts developing, some structural defects might occur that involves the heart walls, its valves, the arteries and veins surrounding the heart. Such defects can interrupt the normal blood flow through the heart, in a way that the flow itself can slow down, or go into the wrong direction, or get blocked completely. An ideal treatment would be medicines, surgery and in some cases, heart transplants, depending upon the severity of the CHD and the age, size and overall health of the child.
