Coronary Artery refers to one of two blood vessels responsible for branching off from the aorta close to its point of departure from the heart where it meets the left ventricle and thereby, carrying out blood containing oxygen to the heart muscle. Both coronary arteries supply blood to the walls of both ventricles and to the partition in between the chambers. While the right coronary artery branches into the right marginal artery and posterior descending artery, the left coronary artery branches into the circumflex artery and the Left Anterior Descending LAD) artery. If there is any blockage in any of the branches of the coronary arteries, it can cause death of some portion of the heart tissue for receiving no oxygen-rich blood.
