Also known by the name of coronary artery disease, Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) refers to a condition wherein the coronary arteries get accumulated by plaque, containing cholesterol, fat, calcium and other substances of the blood. Coronary arteries supply blood containing oxygen to the heart muscle. If plaque accumulated inside the arteries, this condition is referred to as Arthrosclerosis. Basically, the plaque is built up inside the coronary arteries over several years, gets hardened and consequently, narrows down the arteries. This leads to the limitation of the flow of the blood to the heart muscle. The common symptoms of CHD include angina (discomfort) or chest pain, and fatigue, shortness of breath and weakness, particularly in women.
