Cytoplasm

Cytoplasm is the substance which fills the cells of an organism. Cytoplasm is a jelly-like substance which is comprised of 80% water and in colorless. It is like a thick gel, but liquefies when stirred or shaken. Cytoplasm or cytosol is basically a cell substance. It serves as a molecular soup where all the organelles of the cell are suspended and held together with the help of a fatty membrane. The cell membrane houses the cytoplasm, which surrounds the cytoplasmic organelles and the nuclear envelope. When seen through an electron microscope, the cytoplasm appears to be like a three dimensional lattice of thin strands rich in protein.
