Ectopic Pregnancy
Ectopic pregnancy is an abnormal condition that takes place outside the womb. The fetus does not develop at all and hence cannot survive in this type of pregnancy.This type of pregnancy starts when the pregnancy begins outside the womb. Ectopic pregnancy is usually observed within one of the tubes by which the egg moves to the uterus from the ovary. In some cases, this type of pregnancy can also occur in the cervix, stomach area or the ovary.Ectopic pregnancy is caused by a condition where there is a blockage or slowness in the movement of the fertilized egg via the fallopian tube to the uterus. The condition may arise due to hormonal factors or some other factors such as smoking.
