Ehler’s Danlos Syndrome
Ehler’s Danlos Syndrome is a disorder that is characterized by exceptionally loose joints, damaged blood vessels and hyper-elasticity of the skin which bruises easily. Various genetic alterations cause problems to the collagen. Collagen is the material which gives the bone, skin, internal organs and blood vessels their strength and structure.
This abnormality of the collagen gives rise to symptoms similar to the EDS. In some cases, there can be rupture of internal organs and abnormality of the valves of the heart. The commonly observed symptoms of Ehler’s Danlos Syndrome are:
- Flat feet
- Joint pain and dislocation
- Problem in vision
- Double joints
- Soft, velvety skin
- Poor wound healing
- Easy scars
