Embryonic Stem Cell
Embryonic stem cells are derived from the undifferentiated inner mass of the embryos. These cells are derived from the embryos that develop from eggs. These eggs are fertilized in a vitro fertilization clinic which is then donated for research purposes. These embryos are not derived from the fertilization of eggs in a woman’s body. These cells are pluripotent and therefore are able to grow into derivatives of three germ layers. They are ectoderm, mesoderm and endoderm. The embryonic stem cells can develop into more the 200 cell types as long as they are directed to do so.
