Gonadal Vein

In medical terms, the gonadal vein is defined as the vein that carries blood from the gonad(testes or ovaries) to the heart. In females, this vein is called the ovarian vein and in males it is known as the testicular vein. The left gonadal vein passes to the left renal vein, and the right one drains directly into the vena cava (inferior). One kind of disorder or infection associated with the gonadal vein is the gonadal vein thrombosis. The gonadal vein thrombosis is generally associated with the disseminated ovarian carcinoma in female. However, this condition is rare.
