Hemangioblastoma
A hemangioblastoma, also called a capillary hemangioblastoma, refer to the tumors of the central nervous system originating from the vascular system at the time when an individual reaches his middle age. In some cases, these tumors may erupt in the spinal cord and retina as well. Hemangioblastomas might also be related to diseases like polycythemia (rise in blood cell count), Von Hippel-Lindau syndrome (VHL syndrome), and pancreatic cysts. It mainly consists of stromal cells within small blood vessels. A hemangioblastoma normally occurs in the cerebellum, spinal cord or brain stem, and are regarded as grade one tumors, as per the classification system of the World Health Organization.
