Hodgkin’s disease
Hodgkin’s disease is a particular kind of lymphoma, now termed as Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Lymphoma refers to the cancer of lymph tissue inside the lymph nodes, liver, spleen and bone marrow. The very first symptom of the disease is the widened lymph node, which can even spread to adjacent lymph nodes, and eventually to the lungs, liver or bone marrow. However, the cause Hodgkin’s disease is yet to be discovered. Some of the common symptoms include painless inflammation of the lymph nodes in the neck & armpits, fever, chills, night sweats, loss of appetite, weight loss and itchy skin. A biopsy is used to diagnose Hodgkin’s disease. The treatment may also include chemotherapy or radiotherapy often.
