Huntington’s Disease

Huntington’s disease is referred to as a disorder that generally runs in families, and wherein the nerve cells inside certain brain parts either go waste or deteriorate. It is mainly caused due to a genetic defect on chromosome 4 that further causes a CAG repeat (a DNA part) to erupt more frequently number of times than it normally should (10 to 28 times). Affected individuals with Huntington’s disease have the CAG repeat as 36 to 120 times. The more the number of repeats would be, the greater the chances of a person would be to develop symptoms at an early age.
