Ichthyosis
In some cases of skin disorders, we may find the skin excessively dry and scaly or thickened and fish like, this type of genetic and uncommon group of skin disorders represent the disease ‘ichthyosis’.Due to abnormal epidermal metabolism, often keratinization occurs and skin becomes dry and rough. A physician can diagnose it by looking through naked eye, or sometimes biopsy may be required.Possible causes of the disease may be mainly genetic disorder, leprosy, lymphoma or hypothyroidism. The treatment option is upon the patient, he/she may take systematic, ocular or topical medical care for the disease. A check up by dermatologist must be preferred.
