Idiopathic Hypertrophic Subaortic Stenosis
It is medical condition of obstruction of blood flow out of the left ventricle due to hypertrophy of the ventricular spectrum. This obstruction to the left ventricular ejection is often caused by the hypertrophic muscle narrowing the outflow tract, during systole. As a consequence marked enlargement of the papillary muscles and of the trabeculae carneae, deformation of the mitral valve by the thickened ventricular septum, and thickening of the anterior mitral leaflet are commonly noted. The etiology of IHSS has not been defined. Although it has been suggested that an abnormal position of the anterior mitral valve leaflet may be responsible for IHSS.
