Inflammatory Breast Cancer
IBC is a usually aggressive but less common type of breast cancer which generally appears with signs and symptoms of benign breast infections like Mastitis, rather than an appearance of a serious cancer. It is an advanced and accelerated form of breast cancer, often not detected by ultrasound or mammograms.Notable symptoms may be rapid swelling with nipple retraction, rapid increment in breast size, redness or continuous itching. It requires quick and aggressive treatment with chemotherapy prior to surgery. It has the higher risk of reoccurrence than other type of breast cancer. Early diagnosis and quick initiation of treatment improves the chances of long-survival.
