Kerion

Kerion is a condition of scalp, as a result of severe cases of scalp ringworm, which is accompanied by bacterial infection. It is kind of inflamed, pus filled and thickened in its appearance. The ringworm of scalp is most commonly seen in children. Scalp ringworm may be acquired by direct contact with infected people or with objects that have been handled by infected people (such as combs, pillows, and sofas).The condition is believed to be the active response of the immune system. Excessive degree of inflammation leads to increased scarring and hair loss. Shampoos containing ketoconazole (Nizoral) or selenium sulphide (proprietary anti-dandruff) may help limit spreading.
