Klinefelter’s Disease

 

The condition of an extra ‘X’ chromosome in the general ‘XY’ pattern found in males is known as Klinefelter’s Disease. Person with this type of chromosomal set-up is known as XY-male or 47,XY-male. It is the most common type of chromosomal disorder found in males.These males possess a specific set of symptoms. Major effects of the disorder are hypogonadism and reduced fertility. A variety of other physical and behavioral differences and problems are common, though severity varies and many boys and men with the condition have few detectable symptoms. A karyotype is used to confirm the diagnosis.
