Lupus
Lupus, medically termed as Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), is referred to as a long-term autoimmune disorder that affects the skin, kidneys, brain, joints and other body organs. The immune system wrongly attacks the healthy tissues of the body, resulting into chronic inflammation, particularly among women. Lupus may occur at any age, but mostly between 10 and 50 years of age to Asians and African Americans. The cause of lupus can also attributed to certain drugs intake. Common symptoms include chest pain, fatigue, hair loss, uneasiness, malaise, mouth sores, skin rash, swollen lymph nodes and sensitivity to sunlight. Affected joints could be those of fingers, wrists, hands and knees.
