Lyme Disease
t is most common tick –borne disease caused by bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi, Borrelia afzelii and Borrelia garinii. They are transmitted to humans by the bite of ticks known as hard ticks. It was first reported in U.S. and now can be seen in almost every part of U.S. This disease has three stages viz. primary stage, secondary stage(early disseminated Lyme disease and tertiary stage(chronic persistent Lyme disease). Symptoms may include fever, body wide itching, headache and muscle pain. Blood test can be done to detect the infection in the body. Proper care should be taken for person bitten a by tick.
