Orbital Cellulitis

 

It is a bacterial infection of the tissue surrounding the eye. These tissues include eyelids, eyebrow and the cheek. The bacteria Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and beta-hemolytic streptococci are mainly responsible for this. Patients suffering with this condition complain of eye pain, limited movement of eye, sudden vision loss and bulging of the eye. There are many symptoms which can be seen along with this condition, like occasional fever and lethargy. It occurs mainly due to infection in blood and eyelid infection. Diagnosis includes blood and throat culture and complete blood count. There is chance of this condition getting very worse very quickly, so proper care should be taken and complete stay in the hospital is advised.
