Otitis Media
It is an inflammation of the cavity between the eardrum and the inner ear, known as the middle ear. The duct which is inflammated by this disease is called the eustachian tube. The function of eustachian tube is to equalize the pressure between the middle ear cavity and the outside atmosphere, allowing the fluid and mucus to drain out of the middle ear cavity. The inflammation causes the trapping of fluid within the tube. Patients suffering fro this condition complain of frequent and intense pain in the middle ear. If condition is nonresponsive to antibiotics, a surgery may be required.
