Pemphigus
Pemphigus vulgaris is a disorder that causes blistering and erosions on the skin and mucus membranes. It is an autoimmune disorder. Antibodies are produced by the immune system instead of specific proteins in the mucus membranes and skin. The antibodies cause the bonds between the skin cells to break thus leading to the formation of blister. The exact cause for pemphigus is still unknown. Painful blisters and oral sores develop at first followed by skin blisters. The skin sores appear and disappear. The skin sore may be oozing, draining, peeling or crusting. The sores may be present in the mouth or on the trunk, scalp and other areas.
