Periorbital Cellulitis
The infection and inflammation of the eye lids and the portions around the eye are commonly known as preseptal cellulitis or Periorbital cellulitis. It generally affects the anterior of the orbital septum. The disease is mainly caused by the sinus infection surrounding the nose, other blood infections or a skin infection around eyes which consequently spreads on the eyelids. Affected patients experience swelling, discharge, pain, redness, conjunctivital infection, blurred vision, fever, teary eyes, tenderness, periorbital erythema and warmth. Eye make-up overnight or long lasting duration of eye make-up for many days may also lead up to this disease. Insect bites like that of a spiderand other insects can also be one of the causes.
