Retinoblastoma

 

The cancer in the cells of retina that develops rapidly is called Retinoblastoma. This affects those tissues of the eye that detects the light. This cancer is curable if the affected is child and in the case of adults only 10% is the cure rate. This is both non-heritable and heritable but not always transferred to the offspring. This starts off with normal tumor and it may affect both the eyes. Generally the retina changes its color to white which can be of various causes so a diagnosis is a necessity. There can also be poor vision and painful eye, red in color, along with inflammation of the surrounding eye tissues. If the eye-ball is protruding then immediate check up is necessary for the child. This cancer may lead to development into cancers of the bone in an affected child.
