Strep Throat

Every fall, thousands of children go back to school with new backpacks and high expectations. By blessing break, an extensive number of them will be making complaint of sore throats, headaches plus stomach pain. They will run fevers, protest of swollen neck glands and have troubles keeping their lunch down. In brief, they’ll have constricted Strep Throat, an infection caused by group a streptococcus bacteria. Not all sore throats are Strep Throats—only about five to ten percent of sore throats are strep-related. And not all strep “presents,” or shows up, as a sore throat. Some people carry the bacteria but never succumb to the infection it creates. Strep, however, is the most common bacterial infection in children between five and fifteen years of age.
