Benign Juvenile Melanoma

Benign Juvenile Melanoma is a red superficial or slightly pigmented skin tumor that is comprised of spindle-shaped, multinucleated and epithelioid cells. This disease is commonly seen in children but may also affect adults. This type of cancer involves the production of a pigment known as melanin which is responsible for providing color to the skin and hair. Melanoma may also affect the pigmented area of the eye. Benign Juvenile Melanoma usually appears on a normal skin, however it may start as a mole or any other part of the body which shows a change in appearance. Melanomas may also be developed from moles present at birth.
