Black Eye

A black eye is caused as a result of an injury to the head or the face. It is caused when there is an accumulation of blood and other fluids around the eyes. The dark discoloration and the swelling of the eye result in a formation known as the “black eye.” The eye is not injured at all, however the tissues around the eye may become swollen and discolored. The portion of the skin around the eye is loose with fats mostly deposited under it. This makes an ideal place for the blood and fluid to collect. Gravity also aids in the swelling of the face. This is the main reason why people wake up in the morning with puffy eyes.
