Carpal Tunnel
The carpal tunnel is found in the wrist. It is a narrow tunnel formed by the bone and the ligament. A median nerve is present in the hand which carries the impulses from the brain to the hand. This nerve passes through the carpal tunnel along with other tendons which allow the hand to close. The tendons swell inside the carpal tunnel when stressed thus causing the median nerve to compress. Apart from the repeated movements, there are some other conditions which lead to the compression of median nerve. The conditions include diabetes, arthritis, misaligned fractures, fluid retention, stress from motion, chemical imbalance and in some cases hormonal alterations in women.
