Cat Scratch Fever

Cat scratch fever is a disease that is usually contracted through the scratch or bite of a kitten or cat that carries the infectious bacteria. The infection is characterized by a dark brownish pimple or pustule at the site of the scratch or bite and the infected area swells with tender lymph nodes. The usually observed symptoms are malaise or mild fever. Since this is a self-limited disease, many of the patients recover from this disease on their own. The exact cause for the disease is unknown but the disease is believed to be caused by a bacteria called Bartonella henselae.
