Celiac Disease
Celiac disease is a type of disorder in which the liming of the small intestine is damaged and as a result the intestine is unable to absorb portions of food which is very important for a person in order to stay healthy. The reaction is mainly caused due to consumption of gluten that is mainly found in barley, wheat, rye and oats.Though the exact cause of the disease is unknown, it is believed that the intestine contains villi, an area which helps the intestine absorb nutrients. When people consume food or consume something which contains gluten in it, the villi gets damaged as the immune system reacts with the gluten. Since the ability to absorb nutrients is not present, a person becomes malnourished even after consuming food.
