Cellulite

 

Cellulite is a condition where the skin appears to be dimpled as a result of the deposition of fats just below the surface of the skin. It is usually observed on the skin on the lower limbs, pelvic region and abdomen. This generally occurs after puberty. Cellulite is known by other names such as dermopanniculosis deformans, adiposis edematosa, gynoid lipodystrophy and status protrusus cutis in the medical field. In colloquial language, cellulite is also known as cottage cheese skin, orange peel syndrome, mattress phenomenon and hail damage. Cellulite usually occurs due to reasons such as lifestyle factors, hormonal factors, clothing, diet and genetics.
