Cervical Dysplasia

 

Cervical dysplasia is a disorder where there are abnormal changes in the cells of the cervix’s surface. Cervix is the lower part of the uterus that opens atop the vagina. These changes are not cancer, however,, they can lead to cervical cancer if left untreated. Majority of the cervical dysplasia cases are caused by HPV (human papilloma virus). This type of virus is transmitted through sexual intercourse. There are numerous types of HPV. Some types of these viruses lead to cervical cancer or dysplasia. Cervical dysplasia develops among women between the ages of 25-35. However, they can develop at any age.
