Guttate Psoriasis
Guttate Psoriasis refers to a particular skin condition characterized by small, scaly teardrop-shaped spots, reddish in color that occurs on the legs, arms and middle of the body. The term ‘guttate’ is a Latin word, meaning thereby, a drop. Guttate psoriasis is usually found in patients below 30 years of age that develops all of a sudden and mostly after an infection, particularly strep throat. It is not a contagious skin condition, but does run in families. Some of the triggers include bacterial or viral infections, burns and cuts, medicines that treat malaria & other heart diseases, stress, sunburn and alcoholism.
