Hepatocellular Carcinoma
Hepatocellular carcinoma or cirrhosis of the liver is cancer of the liver. This type of cancer occurs more in men than women. The main cause for liver cancer is the scarring of the liver. It can be caused by
Alcohol abuse
- Hepatitis B or C virus infection
- Some autoimmune diseases of the liver
- Too much hemoglobin in the body
- Long term diseases related to liver.
Patients who suffer from hepatitis B or C are also at risk for liver cancer even if they do not suffer from cirrhosis of liver.
The commonly observed symptoms are
- Easy bruising or bleeding
- Abdominal pain
- Tenderness
- Yellow skin
- Enlarged abdomen
