Janeway Lesion

 

Janyway lesion is a small erythematous, non-tender or nodular lesion on the soles or palms which is only a small millimeter. This is caused die to septic emboli which deposits bacteria which forms microbscesses. They are flat, distal and painless. This will last for weeks before it gets healed completely. This is seen commonly in acute endocarditis, where bacteria Staphylococcus aureus gets cultured from them. These bacteria may be found inside the blood cells. The lesions on the skin will heal without leaving any scar. If treated it should be aimed at bacterial endocarditis which involves some intravenous antibiotics.
