Keloid Scar
Also called as keliods, these are the excess growth of the scar tissue on a healed injury. It is usually firm, shiny, soft and pink or purple in color. These scars are benign and non-contagious in nature. They may cause severe itchiness and pain in the skin. Potential cosmetic problem is another issue related with them.The occurrence of these scars are associated with some specific type of peoples. Tissues found in them are mainly collagen, fibronectin, elastin. They are sometimes found to be sensitive to chlorine. They can be the result of pimples, insect bites, scratching, burns, or other skin trauma. Prevention is the best treatment for these cases.
