Neuron

Known as a nerve cell, it is the basic building block of the nervous system of all the animals (Eumetazoas). These are specialized to transmit information throughout the body both in electrical and chemical form. In a number of ways, except the one described above, it is similar to other cells in the human body. A typical neuron consists of dendrites, a cell body and an axon. Together they form a tree type network. All neurons can be excited through electricity. In vertebrates these are majorly located in the CNS. Neurons exist in a number of different shapes and sizes and can be classified by their morphology and function.
