Pink Eye

The infection or swelling of conjunctiva or the membrane of the eyelids is termed as conjunctivitis or Pink Eye. This membrane is exposed to direct infection or bacterial attack and tears help in guarding the conjunctiva from bacteria by washing them away. Conjunctivitis can happen due to different causes like viral infection, bacteria and allergies, diseases like Chlamydia, fungal infection and due to usage of contact lenses. This infection is very contagious mostly in young children. Blurred vision, eye pain, crusts forming on the eyelid overnight, gritty feeling, tearing and itching eyes, sensitivity towards light and redness in the eye are most common symptoms for conjunctivitis.
