Pulmonary Embolism

 

When a blood clot happens in one’s veins and it travels through the circulatory system via heart and sometimes get lodged in one of the arterial branches of the lung. This hampers the exchange of the oxygen and carbon dioxide and eventually the blood supply to the lung stops and the causes the death of the tissues of the lungs. This in medical term is called Pulmonary Embolism. Severe chest pain and respiratory problem is the main symptom for this problem. One may experience sharp pain while inhaling and exhaling. Sometimes cough with bloody sputum are one of the symptoms. Patients may have elevated rate of heart and even cardiac arrest. An infected person can be cyanotic, blue tinged skin complexion, as the red blood cells lack supply of ample oxygen.
