Sclera
The white part of the eye as per a layman’s view is termed as Sclera. This is the strong, opaque fibrous part of the eye which acts both as the outer part and shield of the eye to protect it from injury. The thickness of this part of the eye increases with the age and color of this part changes due to deposition of fatty product on it. In spite of being soft, sensitive and flexible this strong part of the eye gives the eyes its shape and is also responsible for the movement of the eyes as this contains all the eye muscles. This is the main base of the eye as it keeps all the parts of the eye fixed at their respective places. Although this part is strong enough to protect the eye but it is properly lubricated to conduct the eye movement easily.
